CLUB PROFILE
The Croydon Tennis Club was established in 1907 with 60 members at Mount Dandenong Road, Croydon. The land was donated by Thomas Gwillam (the club’s first president) Joshua Cheong was the club’s first secretary. However, the clubhouse was relocated to its present site off Hewish Road, after a fire on Anzac Day 1969.
Due to this the members rebuilt the existing clubhouse and added more courts. In 2007, Croydon Tennis Club will celebrated its 100th Anniversary which recognised the outstanding contributions of all past and present members as well as local contributors.
Today, Croydon Tennis Club remains one of the longest established tennis clubs in the eastern suburbs and maintains a healthy membership. There are 8 well-maintained en-tout-cas courts, which are all serviced by up to date lighting for night tennis.
